Nvida install and kernel soucre

I am trying to install the nvidia drivers on Suse 9.2 Prof.

I have downloaded the package change xF86 config, when I
run the install pakage I get an error about how it can't find the
kernel source. I have installed the kernel source via Yast.

I managed to install the drivers on 9.1 persoanl edition and
can't remember what I did!

A link or help would be great!

Thanks for that I tried updating using YOU and it did nothing, tried it with compiling a new kernel and had to reinstall!

ANy ideas?

all you need are the kernel sources installed and to run the installer from run level 3.YOU won't have the latest driver,that's why mine is set as taboo.just follow the steps in the suse installer and it will be easy.

Are you sure you have the right version of you kernel sources in /usr/src/linux/?

Ok I need to install and make the kernel, how do i do this?

You dont need to compile a new kernel to use your nvidia driver.

1. # uname -r
gives your kernel version.

2. look for this kernel-sources on internet

3. install them in /usr/src/linux

4. # sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7174-pkg1.run

That s the easiest way

Can't I just use the kernel source supplied on the Suse disc?

If it is the disk you used to install your kernel, yes! It will be the same sources.
