No sound in Yamaha YMF740-v based sound card

I have a yamaha YMF740-v based sound card and I'm using Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex.I get the following output in dmesg

Code:

Can someone help me with this problem?

It seems to be requesting firmware 'yamaha/ds1_dsp.fw' 'yamaha/ds1_ctrl.fw' do those exist on the sytem somewhere ? Like in /lib/firmware ?

I have both the firmware files in '/lib/firmware'.Actually I had those in the folder '/lib/firmware/2.6.27.11-generic/yamaha/' I copied those files to /lib/firmware and still get the same error.

it's an alsa problem, i just finally got over a 3 day struggle to get sound by doing this:

download alsa-firmware-xxxx from (see link below)

then

Code:

bunzip2 alsa-firmware-xxx
tar -xf alsa-firmware-xxx
cd alsa-firmware-xxx
./configure ; make ; make install

solved my problem, hopefully it solves yours!
