I am having troubles installing my sound card on fedora 2 I have all the latest packages for red hat installed but when i run alsaconf it detects no sound cards present I currently have a ASUS a7v600 board with on-board sound redhat's sound card detection detects:

vendor: VIA Technologies
Model: VT8233/8233 AC97 audio controller
Module: snd-via82xx

Witch never worked in the first place except in windows witch i could not care less about. Thus the reason for alsa i have seen other people with similar configurations to work but not my exact configuration or board. Any help getting my sound card to even be recognized would be grate. Originally before I did some upgrades I got it to recognize but it never made any noise now it wont even recognize.

everybody is having problems with alsa sound cards/support.

I have a AM35 board which has VIA VT 8233a and the windows driver is Real tek ACL 201. I'm using Slax 4.01 a live version of slackware current.
