no sound [redhat 9]

this is how it works.

I have an AC97 VT8233 sound card (onboard).
I removed the standard driver cause they dont work.
I donwloaded new drivers from the via site.

I read the install and it said to rebuild the rpm, so i did. This worked fine. Redhat rebuild the rpm and i installed it, works fine.

But i still have no sound. I did get a message the drivers were tainted (http://www.tux.org/lkml/#export-tainted) or something.
If i run lsmod, it says the driver is loaded.

Can anyone tell me why i dont have sound in xmms.

Do you have sound at all?
If it's only in xmms that you get no sound, this site has the rpm you need:

But nevermind, i managed to install the alsa drivers
