Nforce 3 Sound on Kernel 2.6.10 and Slack 10.1

Hi All,

I have patched the Network Drivers and the Sound Drivers for use with 2.6.10 on my Slackware 10.1 box.

Network works straight away without me having to edit any config files. But I am having a lot of problems with sound.

According to lsmod. nvsound is loading, but it doesnt seem to attach it self to the ac97 codec ? the intel i810 is always there. I have removed the intel drivers from the kernel and still to no avail.

lspci says the multimedia audio controller is unkown nvidia.

I have edits the modprobe.conf and modules.conf to nVidia's config details. but still it doesnt work.

I have also loaded and OSS as a module,

Has anyone had the same problems ? Or is there another Slack config file I need to look at ?

Also, on nvsound when booting, it says liscence 'taints' kernel, is this significant ?

Cheers,
Karl.

Well,

I couldn't get onboard nforce 2 sound to work with the 2.6.9 kernel, so i put a PCI yamaha card in instead (which i wasn't upset about at it was a) lying aroung b) better

So, I know exactly what you are saying - no joy!

I think it's some of the Mboard manufactuers

Its really strange, I've never had any hardware issues with Slack before.

Must be user error

How to do get everything to use esd ?
