Network Print Server printing with SuSE 10 and a Minolta PagePro 1250W
I posted this in the new user section, and had no responces because I realized nobody reads that section, so I'm putting it here:
A while back I joined here, back when I was playing around with the old redhat distros.
Now I'm really wanting to get into linux, especially since wine is really becoming useful to let me install and run windows programs that I need on Linux.
So I downloaded a few disros - xandros, suse, debian and ubuntu. I installed xandros and liked it's similarity to the windows environment, but didn't like it's lack of features.
Next I installed SuSE and loved it. Didn't even try the others.
Now I have SuSE installed and I'm trying to print to my unix compatable netgear PS110 2-port print server.
I typed in the name of the print server as the host name of an LPD printer, and I typed P1 (the port the printer is connected to) as the Queue.
I used the built in driver for the pagepro 1250w, and I hit print test page. It connected properly and the light started flashing on the printer like it always does when preparing to print, but it never actually prints. Looking in the printer status program, it shows the printer as spooling 3% completed. It just sits at 3% forever though.
The only causes I can think of for this are that on windows for it to print I have to disable bidirectional printing because of the print server. However, I can't find that option on Lniux. Does anybody know where it's at or another way that may make this work?
