mouse setting


i use red hat 8.0 and i tried to change mouse type from generic to microsoft intelligent. it changed but the mouse not working any more. i tried to update the system same thing. how can i change mouse setting back to generic? it's a microsoft intelligent mouse.

Edit the pointer section in/etc/X11/XF86Config.

I've an intellimouse too, just write this lines in your /etc/X11/XF86config,
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2" #for intellimouse
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "Buttons" "5" #to set wheel because wheel is like 2 buttons
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
# Option "Emulate3Buttons" don't emulate 3 buttons because wheel is 3er.

tried XF86Config file, can't find pointer section but found InputDevice and modified it with all this:

Option "Buttons" "5" #to set wheel because wheel is like 2 buttons
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

it's back, I mean the mouse, but the wheel still not working.....anyway thanks to you two.
