Mouse Lag


Hi, whenever i open an application, my mouse will be lagging.

To other problem i face is the sensitivity of the mouse is too high, i try going 'Control Center' to set it to lowest but it still too fast..

I am using a HP laptop, Mandriva 10.2
Need help here..

Hmm could be the graphics driver, I had a similar problem and updating my graphics card driver in Linux seemed to cure the problem....

I think you might have DMA (Direct Memory Access) disabled on your harddisks. This causes heavy system load whenever files are accessed on the harddisk, like when starting an application.

Check that you have "hdparm" installed, and if not, install it.

See "man hdparm" for usage info... you will have to be root to change harddisk parameters. You can check current settings with "hdparm -i /dev/hdXX" (if you have IDE harddisks).

If enabling DMA with hdparm does not work, you probably have your motherboards IDE controller chip support disabled in kernel.
