Motherboard w/ on-board GigE & linux drivers - do they exist?
Does anyone know of a motherboard that comes with gigabit ethernet onboard and linux drivers to support it? I assume this is necessary (the drivers, that is) - the fact that it's on the board doesn't mean that it will work out of the box in Linux - is that correct?
I have an ASUS P4G8X Deluxe that comes with a Broadcom BCM5702X GigE interface that works with no problems. Of course, I'm only using it at 100Mbps so I have no way of knowing if there are problems at the GigE rate.
Any MoBo with the Intel 82540 series (such as 82546EB) interface is fine - nicely supported with the e1000 driver. I have a bunch of systems with the Tyan -what is it, 2720 or somethink like that. That board has one eepro100 and the Intel.
