Modem not found

Hello... I've got an hp pavilion ze4420us, and I can't seem to get it to recognize the modem. I found a modem scanning program on the internet, and when I run it I get:

Providing detail for device at PCI_bus 00:08.0
with vendor-ID:device-ID
----:----
Class 0703: 10b9:5457 Modem: ALi Corporation Intel 537 [M5457 AC-Link Modem] (prog-if 00 [Generic])
SubSystem 103c:0024 Hewlett-Packard Company: Unknown device 0024
Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 3
Memory at e4002000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K]
I/O ports at 8800 [size=256]
The soft modem Subsystem operates under a controller
10b9:5457 ALI 5457 with Subsystem chipset POSSIBLY from:
Pctel
Conexant
Intel
Smartlink
PCTEL CNX INTEL537

I don't know exactly what all this stuff means, and I've tried downloading the drivers from Linuxant... I think it's a conexant ACLink modem... but whenever I run the Internet Configuration Wizard in Fedora, it doesn't find the modem. I'm a newbie, and want to set up my dial-up before I move (I'll be leaving my broadband behind). I appreciate any help you can give,

James

Hi jkassemi,

Is this computer a notebook or desktop? A seach of "hp pavilion ze4420us" shows up as a notebook is this correct?

If this is a notebook you are going to have a problem detterming what you really have there.
Reply to this and we will go from there.

You could pick up Conexant drivers form www.linmodems.org or as rpms from mandrakeclub etc. It shouldn't be difficult at all.
