i have several memorysticks formated in my sony dsc-71 digital camera.
it formats the sticks with a file system layout of
/dcim/ /memstick.ind
i have a ide atapi ziplike memorystick adaptor
i mount it with a command of
mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/memorystick
i can list the files at the shell and view the photos with the program xv
however nautilus shows the directory /dcim as a file with the size of ...
and thats that
gimp , eye of gnome don't work either
i thought maybe it was gtk so i tried to open it with opera and still nothing
i cp 'd the files over to my hard drive and now i can browse the dcim directory
but still can't read the files example dcm00456.jpg ...
doesnt seem to know what kind of files they are or any information about them
am i mounting them with the right file system type ?
i tried vfat umsdos msdos and they all did the same thing
maybe a hardware error these programs trip over?
i never had any problems in windows reading the sticks and never had a driver installed
and was using a windows version that predates memorysticks
fish
if i open from the stick gimp says
"open failed
dcim: Unknown file type"
or from the directory i copied over
"can't open "dsc00345.jpg""
and opera gives "could not open file"
