matrox millenium II dri

hello to all

having debian kernel 2.6 now running on my system
my problem:

I can`t get dri working.

I always get this error message;

Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".

Altough i am having a entry in my XFree86config:
.....
Load "dri"
.....

do I have to load a different module for matrox-cards ?

Thanks for helping
