magical wireless router -router

Not a typo.

I am in possession of two wireless routers, both 802.11g probably (54mbps), and was wondering if it is possible to somehow use one as a sort of "booster".

ie:
One is hooked up as normal to the DSL modem, the other would be in a different room and not hooked up to any internet connection, but plugged in and somehow just retransmitting the signal that is sent by the real wireless router.

The second would be in ad-hoc mode I imagine.

What does somebody think?

An essentially same question posted but not replied to is:

What kind of wireless router is it? You can sometimes download third party firmwares that let you create a "mesh" network where only one acts like a router, and the other is just a wireless node. Also, some third party firmwares let you boost the signal of your wireless connection up to 10x.

If you're wondering, I'm specifically talking about the Linksys WRT54G series...
