I'm unable to use the extra macro keys of my Sidewinder X6 keyboard in linux; I've tried to get the scancodes of the keys following the instructions in http://keytouch.sourceforge.net/howt...ard/node4.html but the program don't show me any scancode when I press the macro buttons.
Take a look at xev for getting the keycodes. If you have it installed as a part of the X system, it may be at /usr/bin/xev. Just run it in a terminal, then press the key of interest. Xev will report key press and key release.
Also, look into lineak for scanning keycodes and assigning keycodes to events.

I've tried that before (that's the method I've used before with other multimedia keyboards) but the problem is that xev doesn't work with this keyboard, it doesn't show anything when the macro keys are being pressed
