Question Looking for scanner and digital camera

Hi everyone-

I use Red Hat 9.0, and am looking for
a new scanner and basic digital camera that
will give me nice snapshots and interface
pretty easy to my distro.

Any ideas? by the way, I would upgrade to
the latest Fedora distro any old time, but
am so happy with RH 9.0, otherwise have no
compelling reason to do so. Point here is
that if someone feels like a later distribution
is going to make it easier for me to get a
new scanner and/or camera, please sound off.

Thanks
pjz

Well, I used a Canon Powershot A70 with Mandrake 10.1 on my IBM T23 with no issues. I have recently upgraded to Mandriva 2006.0 PowerPack and I have yet to try it out but it should work great.

Scanner? I just bought a PacificFilm 1800i slide scanner (my Dad has about 5000 slides that we want to transfer to DVD for more convenient use) and I am just starting to see if it will work. I may have to use my fiance's Windows 2000 laptop and dump across to my IBM X330 server in the basement for storage.

I too am looking for a scanner, so far I have found the epson 3490 but I do not know whether it will allow single pass quick scanning. I just need HIGH SPEED at about 600x600 I need to make copies of reciepts and junk... I do not realy need a full blown photo scanner. Any suggestions? USB preffered (due to price) parralel port (won't even look at it) I can make my distribution work with it if can work with linux... (Gentoo, can switch)
