Looking for a good TV set top box

I'm looking for a recommendation for a TV set top box.
It will be a MythTV frontend. Though I may also look at LinuxMCE in the future.
Specifics:
- Must be quiet
- DVD reader/writer optional but not essential
- Boot from LAN is possible
- Wifi is not needed
- powerful enough to run Xmame
- capture card is optional
- not using HD right now, but want to plan for it in the future (at least for output if not capture).

Anyone have any first hand experience with particular models? Or building themselves?

Regards,
Troy

Might be underpowered for your application but have look at the Asus EEE Box. It even has a bracket to mount it on the back of an LCD TV. When you start looking at TV capture (assuming you have digital signal) have a look at the HDHomerun. It is a dual digital tuner that runs over ethernet. You watch/capture the stream for the box with MythTV or VLC.
