Linux modems

Could someone give me some links to some 56k modems that work with Slackware. External would work best, thanks.

modems are the only device that I never was able to use on Linux (I'm on ADSL now).

You may start searching winmodems support under Linux (ie: http://www.linmodems.org/ )

Works with Slackware 10.2

Hello,
The link bigrigdriver gave you is probably your best bet. I've used a lot of modems and USR is hard to beat. Currently I am using USR 56k v.92 Fax external modem on Slackware 10.2 and Suse 10 machines.

I have used this same modem on Fedora Core 4 and some older distros including RH9 and Mandrake (before they became Mandriva).

Never had any problems. If you do have trouble or have a non-standard com port setup such as an add in card you may find it helpful to issue:
lspci -vv
to determine which resources are assigned to your ports.

Regards,
J.May
