Question linux compatibility with intel D101GGC moherboard?


hi
i hav just bought a new pc with intel D101GGC motherboard. i tired to insatll fedora 2/3, Redhat enterprise 4, mandrake 9.2 but it stops at the point /sbin/loader. only utbundo is insallin dat also in text mode. for graphical mode it is saying X server not configured properly. plz help me. since i hav a project 2 work on whose platform is linux. i also wanted to know if this motherboard is compatible wit linux or not?

You tried SuSe 10.0 ? Try Gentoo's live Cd first then install it.
I think u must try latest distibution of any Linux flavour which
will be having support for the mother board you mentioned. May
be Mandriva 2006. Mandriva 2006 supports almost everything.
Or try Slackware too. There are many distro's. Slackware's latest
release is 10.2 May be that could help you. Next week i am going
to try Mandriva and Suse 10.0 on the same motherboard at my friends
computer.

hi
i hav just bought a new pc with intel D101GGC motherboard..configuration is intel p-iv 3.06 processor,256 ram....i have insatlled fedora 3. 1st of all it takes about 2 to 3 hr for installation where in other (845/865) it usually take about less than 1 hr.can ny one plz tell wht is the prblm?why its taking this much time?and also its not detecting sound card?ny one vl plz suggest frm where i vl get a driver 4 tht?help me. i also wanted to know if this motherboard is compatible wit linux or not?

well rajuraj,
ofcourse D101GCC is compitable with linux but it shows so many problems with older distributions. i had the same issue with redhat EL4 and fedora 4 but it run smoothly with debian and other debian based distros like ubuntu, xandros etc. may be new version of fedora or Redhat will solve this prob.
