Lilo installation -> /dev/hda is read only


Well, the subject says it all. When i try to install lilo i get that message. Hope you can help me

Fatal: open /dev/hda : Read-only file system

hmm, strange. what are the attributes for the /dev/hda entry?
also do you maybe have some MBR protection in your bios? Not sure if that could cause that to happen, but it may be the case.

Attributes? I dont think there are any..
boot = /dev/hda
This is the only place i can find /dev/hda mentioned..

How strange, now i get
Fatal: open /dev/hda: No such device or address

Where is your hard drive connected to? Is it really hda?

acid_kewpie was refering to permissions of /dev/hda to check
ls -l /dev/hda.
