Unhappy Lexmark z605 Driver Install Prob

Here's the problem(s). First, I found the driver I need,

http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-per...e=&fileID=1151

However, my stupid SuSE 9.0 can't install tar.gz files so I need an RPM...

Also, if I did get my tar.gz installer or whatever working (which i had working on SuSE 8.0), the files I extract just confuse me. I have NO IDEA how to install the drivers. Could someone PLEASE help me, i need my printer for a project due on thursday!

that driver is made specifically for REDhat... it also works easily on Mandrake

I Have gotten the thing to work on Gentoo..

Let me give you the skinny on that file...
CJLZ600LE-CUPS-1.0-1.TAR.gz

You need... gzip program, a tar program, TCL 8.3, and be able to process RPMs
as well as cups 1.1.15 + installed..I have not seen this driver avaible any other way.

Open a shell, cd into the directory containing the tarball (the file ending .tar.gz, I'll call it printerdriver.tar.gz from now on, you substitute whatever the name of the file actually is), and type the following at the command prompt:

Code:
tar zxvf printerdriver.tar.gz
This will unzip (z) and untar (x) the file (f) whilst telling you what it is doing (v), this should create a directory probably called printerdriver, look in here for either a README, or an INSTALL file, read them and follow the instructions contained within.

Cheers
Amos
