LCD monitors with 90 degree rotation?

Anyone have experience using those LCD monitors that feature 90 degree rotation, so you can turn them sideways and read text the long way? I heard that X supports it but
I don't know how easy it is or if there are some models that work better than others. Anyone ever do this?

I'm going to buy this one soon: HannsG HN198D 19" Height Adjustable 8MS 700:1 (1280 x 1024) Silver & Black DVI MultiMedia TFT

In X the screen rotation can be set to any multiple of 90 degrees. In KDE the option is accessible from the KDesktop configuration panel (right click on desktop, choose configure...)

On my install it's not that simple unfortunately. Hopefully someone can help.

First the options were grayed out, but I fixed that by adding
Code:
Option "RandRRotation" "true"
to the device part of my xorg.conf file.

However, when I now try to rotate the screen in Control Centre, the display rotates, but the resolution doesn't so I end up with a large black portion on the bottom of the screen and half of the desktop outside of the screen...

Do I have to change the resolution manually? The right resolution (1024x1200) doesn't exist at the moment, but I guess it is easy to add it to the xorg.conf file.

I don't own this Samsung monitor but it does what you want it to do. When searching for monitors with 90 degree rotation, use the key word "pivot"
