LCD monitors with 90 degree rotation?
Anyone have experience using those LCD monitors that feature 90 degree rotation, so you can turn them sideways and read text the long way? I heard that X supports it but
I don't know how easy it is or if there are some models that work better than others. Anyone ever do this? |
I'm going to buy this one soon: HannsG HN198D 19" Height Adjustable 8MS 700:1 (1280 x 1024) Silver & Black DVI MultiMedia TFT
In X the screen rotation can be set to any multiple of 90 degrees. In KDE the option is accessible from the KDesktop configuration panel (right click on desktop, choose configure...) |

First the options were grayed out, but I fixed that by adding Code:
Option "RandRRotation" "true" However, when I now try to rotate the screen in Control Centre, the display rotates, but the resolution doesn't so I end up with a large black portion on the bottom of the screen and half of the desktop outside of the screen... Do I have to change the resolution manually? The right resolution (1024x1200) doesn't exist at the moment, but I guess it is easy to add it to the xorg.conf file. |
I don't own this Samsung monitor but it does what you want it to do. When searching for monitors with 90 degree rotation, use the key word "pivot"
