From what I've heard enabling debugging will cause a kernel panic because of the massive output from systemd. Check if they fixed it.

Systemd's debugger shouldn't do that any more thanks to Greg's fix, but that was only from the kernel debugging being enabled. Systemd's own debugger for itself should work fine.
