device descriptor read/8, error -110 seagate external hard drive

Have tried finding the solution to this problem for the last couple
weeks now with no luck. I am trying to use an external, usb, seagate hard drive and get a dmesg error:
usb 5-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 22
usb 5-1: device descriptor read/8, error -110
Basically the kernel keeps cycling through addresses and gives this error
for each one. Can't find this error at all with google.
my distro is fedora core 6
my kernel is 2.6.22.2-42.fc6

Have a look at /proc/interrupts, as best I can tell from googling the small bit of info you posted this could be an acpi problem. If that's the case there are some suggestions here.

Some more information would help. The ouput from

, a larger chunk of dmesg, and the device info seagate model #, or enclosure info.
