Issue with modem recognition on Fedora 14 X229 micromax mobile
Hello,
I have bought a new mobile phone X229 which has a USB connection slot (Micromax vendo rin India) to be tried out for a couple of days for internet connectivity on my computer.
I tried to insert the USB cable on a Unix Fedora OS to go to the internet but it does not seem to be recognizing the phone.
It beeps and indicates that a Webcam (Video device) is found but nothing to indicate that there is a phone modem.
I then went onto a windows XP machine ..here there were some better results...I was able to see the video device actually working..In the sense I could see video images of what the camera was seeing..
However my main goal is not achieved. I CANNOT use this to go on the internet via the PC and USB cable. Does this phone support this feature. Does it have an inbuilt phone modem. I am using the vodafone mobile services in India and have recharged it for internet connectivity..
Do I have install some drivers for Fedora...If needed I can even use Ubuntu
Hope someone will give me some tips...Thanks in advance.
