Hi!
Many modems are detected automatically (e.g. Huawei) and you don't need to install extra software - starting the networkmanager - with your input - configures the modem.
To see if it is recognized:

At first, if you need urgent help you should pay someone for support.
To your problem: Some USB wireless devices have a modeswitch function. If you plug them into a computer they will behave like a CD-drive, so that the (Windows) user can install the drivers from that virtual CD. After that they switch to their real purpose.
You may want to have a look at the usb-modeswitch program, that can switch to from CD mode to wireless mode. After that we will see if it works out of the box or if additional software is needed.

You are aware that fedora 13 is DEAD .
There has been no support for it for about a month now .
There will NEVER be any updates to it . no bug or security fixes .NO new programs.NO updates so that new programs can run on it .
NO nothing .
