Iomega REV drive stopped working after reboot

I am running RH9, and at one time I had a SCSI Iomega REV drive working just fine. I used mkudffs to make a file system, then fdisk'd it to create a partition, and was able to mount the drive and read and write to it without any problems.

I rebooted the machine, and now it created a cdrom mount in /etc/fstab which I have since commented out. I can no longer do a 'mount /dev/sdc /mnt/rev', nor can I do a mkudffs /dev/sdc. With the latter command, I get this response: trying to change type of multiple extents.

I'm pretty much a newbie, so I need all the help I can get. Thanks,

-Peter

Iomega REV

Hello Peter,

You said you made a partition? In that case, you may try a "mount /dev/sdc1" instead of a "mount /dev/sdc". Note you need UDF-tools on kernels 2.4 and older. I got the same drive but under Firewire... it's a disaster... transfers of 150 bytes/s... I suppose Iomega still make clumsy databusses... (all since ZIP100 seemed to be problematic). If you use a graphical desktop, close any filemanager. It's still better to logoff from X and only use a textconsole.

Good luck!

Greetings,

Ronald
