Intel WiFi Link 1000 on SLED 11

Greetings,

Has anyone been successful at installing an Intel WiFi Link 1000 on SLED 11 64bit (2.6.27 kernel)?

According to intellinuxwireless.org the drivers for this card are built into the kernel.

I have tried to install compat-wireless but that ended in Error 2 - whatever that means. I've tried copying the iwlwifi-1000.ucode to /usr/lib/firmware with no joy. I tried downloading the 2.6.33.2 kernel from kernel.org but the graphics drivers aren't working right with the new kernel.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad SL510. Everything but the wireless seems to work.

Please be explicit, as I am rather new to doing this type of stuff.

Thanks,
Andrew
