Problem with ubuntu 8.04 and Intel Pro 1000 vt (have link up, cannot ping)

I just received a dell 2950 running RH Linux with a 4-port Intel pro 1000 vt (quad-port gigabit) card. I had no problem with RH Linux but with Ubuntu - I cannot ping. I do have link up. I am using a static ip address on the quad card ports (eth3 and eth4) but with dhcp on eth0.

>>>

qa-system-6:/etc/network$ ping 92.1.1.2
PING 92.1.1.2 (92.1.1.2) 56(84) bytes of data.
From 92.1.1.1 icmp_seq=1 Destination Host Unreachable
From 92.1.1.1 icmp_seq=2 Destination Host Unreachable
From 92.1.1.1 icmp_seq=3 Destination Host Unreachable

>>>
