Intel Corp. 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device

My laptop has this card in it, and the display runs like a dream, i had a bit of trouble getting the X server to work with Slackware, but after running xorgconfig, i have had no problems since... that is of course (there is always a but) the problem with my accelorator. When i type in dmesg, i get an error about my chipset.

:
:intelfb: Acceleration is not supported for the Intel(R) 852GM chipset.
:

Do any of the group know as we, know where i can find a tar ball that will allow me to have this supported, or tell me how to edit the appropriate file to get this to work, i much appreciate the help, you guys have gotten me to where i am today, please dont stop now... hehe.

Thanx

as I see it, intelfb is for the framebuffer support (the one you use in console mode). I don't see why you want acceleration for your graphics in console mode. As far as I know, X uses different drivers, and you may have acceleration with those (for your X applications).

see /var/log/XFree86.0.log to find out if you have acceleration in X.

intel has a driver for this card on their website, i cant provide a direct link, but its easy to find.

also, i have the same chipset in a different laptop, and i couldnt get to 1024x768. i have to use a 3rd party X server, www.xig.com. it works very well, but if you dont need it, why try it?

If you want 3D accel under X, use the driver to i810 in xorg.conf, and uncomment the DRI line near the top. Works all the time for me under Slack 10 and 10.1.
