ibm ideascan

i just recently acquired an ibm ideascan parallel scanner. i have NO clue how to get it to run in linux. when i try to set it up in mandy 8.2, it doesnt even have a listing for ibm scanners at all. does anyone know where i can get drivers for this scanner? xsane doesnt register it, and google for the first time turned up nothing of any help. the model number is 0275-011.

I don't think many people have had much succes with parallel scanners. I know that I've not yet got (any) of mine working, which is a pain in the arse! Sorry.

I've got one of the half dozen or so parrallel scanners that works under Linux (just because they emulate SCSI). Straight Parrallel scanners are almost 100% reliant on the vendor to write device drivers for them. That's it, no getting around it. If there's nothing at IBM, there's probably nothing.

Yep. I've got a Photomaker 3E (straight parallel from my brother), a Photomaker 3F (ISA powered parallel, from a friend) and some strange handheld scanner with a weird ISA card that has what loosely looks like a PS/2 or AT keyboard plug. None of which I have successfully got working under Linux... come to think of it though, I've only ever had the 3E working well under Windows!
