I picked the wrong graphics card, help!

Hello,

I've just installed red hat 9 and I'm having difficulties getting a GUI login!

I picked the wrong graphics card by mistake and now I'm left with the text based login.

What red hat 9 specific commands can I type in to help me reconfigure my graphics card?

Thanks,
Chris.

PLEAZE MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE THE "ROOT" USER.
at the shell type:

Xconfigurator

this is the redhat configurator for X (i think)
it will automatically probe your video card and monitor and display a list of the available ones, if your's isn't there pick the frame buffer device, and if your monitor isn't there pick a generic monitor type like: svga 1024x768 interlaced 800x600 ...etc. Do not modify the default values for vsync and refresh rates.
and of course, it would be very helpful if u gave us your hardware specs. at least what type is your video card and what monitor you have.

Xconfigurator didn't work because it was not installed on your system by default. you have to get the rpm from the redhat cd's. that's all.

like i said:
Xconfigurator was not installed on your system by default, so it dosn't mean that it's the wrong command. it has to do with which packages or install type one chooses.
Desktop, workstation, server, minimal or everything. i have chosen the "workstation" and all the system and administration tools. so the Xconfigurator was there.
if u need Xconfigurator just install the rpm's from the cd's.
-by the way, the point was to help that dude on getting x up and running with whatever video hardware he's using and i still did not hear from him

Now we're getting some flaming and yah-yah'ing. There's no use arguing over what command it is. Our user can probably try them both and see which one it is.
