Unhappy I have no sound.....why?

I'm a noob with Linux, just installed Red Hat 8.0, to try to get away from that other OS and all of the "pay-to-play" crashes and "updates" that it has. Anyways, I have an athlon 2600 with a GB of RAM, ATI 9700/128MB vid, and SB Audigy 2. I have beautiful everything...except for the silence.... How do I, or where do I find a way to make this OS recognize my sound card and use it?

Please help a guy looking to convert from the Windows masses.....

Rich

Hi!
Did you check in 'kmix'?
Maybe something is muted there...

I have no first hand experience of the Audigy2, but here are some thoughts:
First try modprobe emu10k1 as root. If that fails, you could try Alsa, as described here.
