I have this USED scanner, and Simple Scan doesn't make it look pretty. I have tried XSANE. In XSANE, it registers that the scanner is there, however, when I go to acquire a preview I get a rainbow page and the scanner bar does not move. Any ideas on how to fix this?
If you are using a repo-based distro, it should be in the repos. Note that the HPLIP GUI ("hp-toolbox" on the command line) is often a separate package.
It works better on Windows, but it doesn't beat my HP Officejet all-in-one. I guess, I am going to return it and save up for a brand-new Canon CanoScan 9000F Mark II for $179.00
