HP Deskjet D1341 (D1300 Series) printer prints with "dither-like" appearance

When I print things with my HP Deskjet D1341 on Windows, I get nice, solid colors. However, when I print things on linux, using hplip, I get very small different-colored dots rather than a solid color. This applies to gray. When I print something with gray in it, the gray is printed using colored ink rather than black. How can I fix this?

I fixed it. For anyone else who experiences the same problem, you can fix it by using the hpijs driver instead of the hpcups (hplip) driver.
