Question How to set up RAID 0 on Madriva 2005 LE

Hey, obviously Im new here and to Mandriva. I am going Linux on my main PC now that I have a lappy with Windows. I want to get more experiened Linux. I used to have a dual boot but that was many years ago. My question is, I was running RAID 0 on my machine and it was fairly easy to load the drivers for RAID. Now that Im install Linux it sees two 74 gig drive but seperatley. How do I enable RAID. Thanks, and I hope to learn a lot from you guys. I did a search but couldnt find anything on that. Thanks again.

You'll have to look with the model of your RAID-card or mobo from google (or here) which drivers you'll need.

Remember that you'll usually have to compile the drivers in the kernel. I think that sometimes it's possible to just load the drivers as modules, but I don't have experience of that (you'll have to pass some arguments to kernel in boot time ?).

I am also linux newbie getting ready to instally Mandriva 2005 LE on a system. I will also be installing RAID 0, however the RAID will NOT be my boot drive(s). When installing it on the other drive (the one that is not going to be part of the RAID) do i need to have the hardware (including the RAID controller and drives) already in the system?

Also in my searching through the forums here and elsewhere there seems to be kernels already set up with particular drivers compiled into the kernel? Are these kernel distros ok to use, and is there anything i need to pay attention to when viewing/ using these?

Thanks for the help in advanced.
