How to disable and re-enable mouse and keyboard input?

Would adjusting the permissions to /dev/input/mice and re-adjusting them when I need it work? Thanks!

Consider your question carefully: if you disable keyboard/mouse until you need them, how would you re-enable them?

You would need a liveCD handy, with a hard reboot to get the liveCD to boot, in order to reset permissions.

I have an acpi script which blanks the screen and locks the session whenever the lid is closed. If I move the mouse when the lid is closed, the screen will unblank, which is something I don't want it to do.

The mouse can be re-enabled with the same script, but I admit that killing the power when the lid is closed would require me to use a liveCD to reset permissions.

Unless, of course, I make a boot script or edit /etc/conf.d/local.start to reset the permissions every time the system boots. What do you think?
