How is the situation about usb joystick on modern distro linux?

Ciao.
You want to check for particular joystick. My creative cobra gamepad (olr&cheap) was recognised out of the box games that supported gampad were in small number. Even assiginig keys so i would be able to play games on websites like www.fog.com was somehow problematic for intermediate expirianced linux user.
