hi, question of a rookie


Hi i have jusrt installed mandrake 9.2 and when i start up (linux)
you don't see a GUI like kde or something like that
you only see programming code

how do i start up???
or is there an error??

what you're seeing is most likely just the startup messages, perfectly normal. if you installed a GUI, mandrake probably should boot you directly there, or to a login screen. what happens when the startup messages stop? do you get to a login prompt? or do you have an error message, or what? please give some more info.

it says:

startx

giving up

..unable to connect to x server
server error

i started up in root & in user but didn't work
also kde & gnome does not work
