Help with printing to HP Color Laserjet 4600DN

Hello, I have a network printer. The HP 4600DN and it works great from windows.

I can print from linux sometimes, but usually I get the same issue.

It will print half of the first page and then the second page has some error info.

It'll always say something about: undefined offending command

i'm using lubuntu 12.10 and used the add printer wizard to create the printer. I've tried with the hplip and the jetdirect and both cause the same issue. I even bought a new jetdirect card for the printer. Again, windows xp and windows 7 print all day long with no errors, so I'm certain this is an ubuntu or configuration issue.

It's using the v3010.107 postscript driver but I tried using cups too.

Thanks for any help.

If you haven't done so, install HPLIP. It works with most HP printers including that one. It's HP's Linux driver package and should open all the functions.

I think the HPLIP GUI (hp-toolbox) is a separate download.

It's in the repos.

If you have the driver and HPLIP installed, you could try
Code:
hp-setup -i
in a terminal as root. I do not know if it will work with buntu, but it works with Debian. Also, as frankbell mentioned,
Quote:

The HPLIP GUI may be installed, but is the toolbox?

Ok, so I did all that and the test page came out fine like normal, but when I went to print out a simple webpage it prints a blank page and a second page with a bunch of error info like:

ERROR:
undefined
Offending command:
16#201tka
Stack:
/ringhalfrightbelowcmcent
702
/ringhalfright
723

it goes on an on down the page.

Any ideas?

Windows can print the same webpages just fine.

Ok, so I have a second 4600dn and it works flawlessly with both linux and windows. I tried taking my laptop that I use with this printer (lubuntu 12.10) and hooked it up (over the network) to the 4600dn with issues and still had issues. So I don't think it's a linux setting at this point.

I even took the cartridges from the good one and put it in the issue one to see if that'd fix it.

I am just at a total loss as to why I'm having this issue and don't know what I should do. Any recommendations?

I even did a cold reset but it's the same.

The odds would seem to be that the one printer has internal issues of some sort.
