Having issue installing centos 5.2 on Intel S3210SHLC ServerBoard

Hi,

I am new to linux environment. I have installed centos 5.2 with RAID1 on the following server configuration.

Intel Xeon Quad Core X3220
2.40Ghz 1066Mhz 8MB Cache
- Intel S3210SHLC ServerBoard
Support Raid 1, 0
- 4x 2GB DDR2 800Mhz Memory
- 2x1TB SATA 7200rpm 32MB
Cache

After installation, server booted up normally, but after updating the centos, when i try to restart the server, it did not boot into OS, but i am getting the following error.

GNU GRUB version 0.97 (604k lower /3665852k upper memory)

[Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible completions of a device/filename]

grub>

When I make changes in the bios "sata configuration as AHCI instead of RAID, server boots up normally. Kindly advice me how to make my server work on RAID.

Regards
Yunus

You need to configure the hardware RAID adapter that came with your server. There is a disk in the pack that came with your machine, it'll be called IBM ServeRAID or something similar. Alternatively, you can pick the 'Enter ServeRAID' option at boot up time. Once this is configured, your machine will boot normally.
