I try to be able to play a movie with mplayer while amarok or xmms is on, without to have to quit the mp3 player.
I've bee able to do that with artsd, but it crashes all the time so it's not a very good solution. I've read somewhere that this can be done trough alsa with a plugin called dmix. But I can't figure how ?
Do you know if dmix works with some specific soundcards ?
I'll allready have the last version of alsa. Did it work with the rpm provided by suse, or did you recompile alsa ?
Thanks
It just works out of the box. I have 3 installations of Suse, one using an SB Live Card, one with a SIS 7012 and another with some intel card (laptop) and I can play media from various sources. I tend to install only alsa and the xine engine for amarok and kaffeine.
