Question Hardware Compatability

HI there,
I am a newbie to LINUX trying to find out the best Linux Distro for me.I already have a collection of Mandrake 10.0 Community, Redhat Blue Curve 9.0, Fedora Core 1, Xandros v2 Desktop Edition & Lycoris LX v1.3 Amethyst. I collected all of these while trying to find a compatibile LINUX Distro for my computer. I have a HP Pavilion 8903 which came with Win XP Home Pre installed. It has a 1Ghz Celeron CPU, 160 MB SD-RAM, 20 GB Ultra DMA HD. Everytime i tried to install a distro on it, it returned without the GUI.I enquired with friends & found out that it might be an incompatability with the Onboard Videocard. So Can some one please suggest as to what i should do or which Distro should i try as.Any kind of Information is welcome.cheers.

hi new_distro_guy, welcome to lq. do you know what video card you have? any of the distros your holding should do fine. as far as the video goes, if it's not configured properly on install it'll probably drop you back to the console login. if that happens, it's not a big deal, just run the configuration, here is a link to a how to here in the forum to do that

you'll need to know your monitor specs, hor, and, vert, refresh rates, you'll need to know what video card you have, and how much memory it's got. after looking at this

i'd bet you've got the intei 810 card, if so, your in luck, it's supported. hope this helps.
good luck.
