Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Try doing:

fdisk -l

That should show your drives. The second hard drive will be hdb as your hardware detection said. I never used diskdrake before so I don't know what the problem is there. You can always create the partitions on your second hard drive using fdsik.

You can try running (as root)
Code:
fdisk /dev/hdb
At least you'll know if it a system or diskdrake problem.
You may also crate a partition directly with fdisk, since the disk is empty you don't face any risk!

You will have to specify a mountpoint, either by manually editing /etc/fstab or maybe via diskdrake (It's been a while since I last used mdk: too messy.)
