Grub Menu - No keyboard (SOLVED)

I have a MSI K8MM-V motherboard and an AMD Mobile Athlon 64 3000+
(DTR) cpu and the keyboard works fine in bios or once booted to the
command line but nothing while in the grub menu. This is a normal
PS/2 keyboard. I use Gentoo. here is grub.conf
Code:
default 0

timeout 10

#splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz

title=amd64
root (hd0,0)
kernel (hd0,0)/boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sda3 vga=0x318 video=vesafb:mtrr:3,ywrap

title=Safe
root (hd0,0)
kernel (hd0,0)/boot/vmlinuz.old  root=/dev/sda3

Grub file seems OK to me. Maybe you should try to switch to LILO instead of using grub as boot manager.

Thanks for the reply. When I did the install with the Minimal/Install CD
I could use the keyboard in grub. I can boot OK so I may try lilo later if needed.
I'm not sure how well lilo works with sata.

It is working now, had to update the bios. I was a little scared, with the windows 98 boot floppy and then to manualy update with a floppy, but all went well. The MCI website gave good directions.
