Graphics issues after installing nVidia Linux drivers

Hi, I just bought a nVidia 8600GT, and installed it and the Linux drivers from the nVidia website. However, after I did, I have been having graphics issues. Whenever I minimize a window in GNOME, for example, there will be a black square that appears as the window is being minimized. Sometimes windows, especially notification popups, will seem to overlap the GNOME bar. How do I fix this?

What hardware are you using ? It looks from afar as if you aren't using the nvidia driver, can you post your xorg.conf here ?

David

P.S. Just noticed you just got the 8600GT, other people have had problems with it not playing nice, here is an ubuntu forum post that might help...

Good luck...let us know how it goes....
