Gigabyte GVR96P128D radeon with RedHat Linux 8
I have recently acquired a Gigabyte Radeon (GV-R96P128D) AGP card. I have the following system specs.
ASUS A7V8x-x motherboard.
AMD Athlon XP 2600+ @ ~2.1 GHz
512MB DDR RAM @ 333 MHz
80GB Samsung Harddrive @ 7200rpm
Red Hat Linux 8.0 installed on /dev/hda2 (partitioned as ext3)
I have downloaded the (correct version of XFree86) graphics drivers for Radeon 9600 Pro from ATI's website, but I have been unable to configure it to use 3d hardware acceleration. Even though the drivers work in unaccelerated 2d mode.
The game Unreal Tournament 2003 demo keeps giving the error message "Cannot set video mode: Unable to find matching GLX visual" when I try to run it.
I even tried to `patch' the kernel to work with the agpgart.o module but it hasn't worked up to now. Please help!
