Anyone know of a good store that I can buy sound cables which run directly from my CD-ROM drives to my soundcard(SB Live!)? We just bought a new Dell, but it didn't have any cables of the like, and the Dell I'm on only has one.... Each computer has relatively new DVD-ROM drives and CD-RW drives(1 of each on each computer).
The latest version of xmms is capable of digital audio extraction so you really do not need an audio cable anymore. If you use any other application then you will need an audio cable.
Have you checked with your local comuputer stores (let your fingers do the walking)? If you can't find any locally then either search online or you can find them at http://www.cablestogo.com/
Is there any local 2nd hand computer store in your area? Or how about any store in town that custom builds computers. Any computer flea markets in your area (usually a once a month type event)? All good places to find less expensive or used parts. A local computer users group might know of some deals around or have contacts.
It would have been cheaper but this cable had one input for the Cdrom and 3 for the mobo/soundcard (3 differnet types of connections that is - only 1 would fit).
