Question USB cables <1m

Has anybody ever seen a USB cable that is shorter than 1m?

Somehow me and my dad can't find one. I ask because I have a card reader and a USB Wlan adapter that connect to a notebook and I don't need such a high cable mileage there. Instead I'd rather have some short ones to be less messy.

I ask because noone around here seems to have ever seen one.

Is there a reason for this?

If you feel comfortable soldering, cut one open and shorten it. I did this for a wireless usb mouse that I connect to my notebook at work - got my cable down to a few inches

yeah, my dad already did that with a cable and I plan to do that as well.

I'm just wondering why nobody seems to have short USB cables even though (from what I can tell at my university) the notebook market is booming and nobody wants to carry around so many cables.

The next problem is that I have different cables. My PDA has mini- USB, the card reader and WLan-USB adapter have a B-Plug and the webcam has an attached cable. I' actually thinking about shortening all of them cause I still have an extra 3 meter usb cable if I need a longer connection.
