Question File server specs?

Hi all,

I'd like to create a file server for my home network. I have an old computer with an AMD K6-2 processor running at 500MHz. Is this enough processor power for a simple file server? The server will just sit on my network and host networked drives. I'm not concerned about running X or anything, just being able to access my media collection from my other computers.

Thanks!

That processor is fine. I'd be worried about the hard drive transfer rates and NIC speed as that is where your overall speed is going to come from.
